Michel Avignon, Peintre-Sculpteur, (1932-1997), sa peinture était toute sa vie, son combat, son engagement , sans aucune compromission, ni concession pour “plaire”, même dans les moments les plus difficiles de son existence. Pour lui la Création était nécessaire pour que l’Homme existe, il s’est toujours conduit en homme libre en restant vigilant au monde qu’il jugeait égoïste et peu fraternel. L’injustice a toujours fait partie de son combat car elle était pour lui le mal absolu fait aux hommes. Les trahisons d’un idéal ou d’une amitié étaient vécues par mon Pére douloureusement. Son monde n’a jamais été celui du profit, mais celui du mystère où l’homme était présent et trop souvent brisé. Sa peinture chargée d’humanité souffrante est un cri, un appel vers l’autre pour l’entrainer vers la vie intérieure. Son grand défi n’a pas été de nier la réalité ou de la refuser, mais de chercher des chemins où passent la Liberté, la Dignité et la Solidarité.

Michel Avignon, Painter-Sculptor, (1932-1997), his painting was his whole life, his fight, his commitment, without any compromise or concession to “please”, even in the most difficult moments of his existence. For him, Creation was necessary for Man to exist, he always behaved as a free man while remaining vigilant to the world that he judged selfish and unfraternal. Injustice was always part of his fight because it was for him the absolute evil done to men. The betrayals of an ideal or a friendship were experienced painfully by my Father. His world was never that of profit, but that of mystery where man was present and too often broken. His painting full of suffering humanity is a cry, a call to the other to lead him towards the inner life. His great challenge was not to deny reality or to refuse it, but to seek paths where Freedom, Dignity and Solidarity pass.
