Piotr Szurek a fait ses études de 1982 à 1987 à la Faculté de Peinture de Gravure et de Sculpture de l’Ecole nationale supérieure des Arts plastiques (actuellement Université d’Art Magdalena Abakanowicz) à Poznań en Pologne. Il y a obtenu son diplôme avec mention dans le domaine de la gravure d’atelier en 1987. Il enseigne comme professeur à l’Université d’Art Magdalena Abakanowicz à Poznań et à l’Université de Zielona Góra.
Piotr Szurek a réalisé 51 expositions personnelles et a pris part à plusieurs centaines d’expositions collectives. Il a reçu, e. a. le Grand prix de la 2e Triennale polonaise de gravure en 1994, le Grand Prix de la Biennale internationale “Dry point” de Uzice en 1999, le Prix spécial à la Triennale internationale de gravure à Cracovie en 2000, le Grand Prix du Concours international de dessin à Wrocław en 2003et le Premier prix à la Triennale internationale de gravure à Sofia en 2023.

Piotr Szurek studied from 1982 to 1987 at the Faculty of Painting, Engraving and Sculpture at the National School of Fine Arts (now the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Art) in Poznań, Poland. He graduated with honors in the field of studio engraving in 1987. He teaches as a professor at the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Art in Poznań and at the University of Zielona Góra.
Piotr Szurek has held 51 solo exhibitions and taken part in several hundred group exhibitions. He has received, among others: the Grand Prize of the 2nd Polish Triennial of Printmaking in 1994, the Grand Prize of the International Biennial “Dry Point” in Uzice in 1999, the Special Prize at the International Triennial of Printmaking in Krakow in 2000, the Grand Prize of the International Drawing Competition in Wrocław in 2003 and the First Prize at the International Triennial of Printmaking in Sofia in 2023.
